U16 LEAGUE MATCHES 26TH FEBRUARY 2012

The Girls are Mighty Fine!

Selby U16 girls played their final games of the season this weekend against some equal teams and just being nipped by each all morning. The first game against Huddersfield saw Laura Hague play well and score...but as a player for the other team! Leeds were the strongest team but saw Flo Brown and Lucy Appleton playing progressive defence with Charlotte McVittie also making her presence known in the defending D. Squeaky Pickering was on form in the net all day and Aine Abbot was creating some great play on the left half in partnership with Corrin Hall. Ellie Appletion tried her hand at right half managing to get some play forward to Hannah Langhan, coming close to scoring in the game against Sheffield. Kaitlin Bucktrout tried to gain yards in the opposing D against Wakefield but meeting solid defence. Player of the Day Olivia Scott managed to nick a goal against Hull in the final game and Manager’s player Giorgia Bromley gave hope for a win but sadly, the girls were overcome in the final minutes. An enjoyable day seeing the girls really start to form as a team. For information on youth hockey in Selby, please contact Angie O’Mahoney on 07818 025097
