Selby got a vital 3 points on Saturday which sees them secure in Division 2 for next season, as they are comfortably sitting mid table with no threats underneath them.
It was Mrs O who sent a long ball down the centre of the pitch, which landed on the end of Cauley’s stick, who in turn took on numerous Valley players including the keeper and slotted in Selby’s second.
Half time came at the right time, as the ladies were tiring. A lot of fluids were taken on board, due to the heat. Selby continued the pressure and forced a short corner. Franii Brooks took control of the pass out, sending the ball to Cauley, who passed to Davey. Davey then stumbled to the floor but amazingly got up before the Valley defender reached her and reversed the ball into the back of the net.
Selby were then determined to keep the lead so sat back and let Valley pass the ball. Brooks and Kym Hurst took charge of the side lines and kept the Valley pressure at bay. But Valley was awarded a short corner and converted it coolly. This made Selby even more determined to keep the lead, which saw Selby keep the possession for the rest of the game, with a few more shots at goal just narrowly missed.
With only 2 games left of the season, Selby can now relax and enjoy the games knowing they are safe for next season.
A big thank you to Sarah-Jane Taylor for umpiring and doing a great job!
