The teams golden era was the 30's and 50's when winning trophies Became a bit of a habit! The 30's saw The Robins win the league 3 times, The West Riding Trophy 3 times and The League Cup!
The 50's saw the club win the League twice, triumph in the League Cup twice and reach the first round of the F.A.Cup 4 times! They also Recorded the clubs highest attendance of 7,000 in 1954 when they played Bradford Park Avenue in the F. A. Cup 1st Round!
The Robins moved from The Bowling Green across town to the current Flaxley Road ground on Richard Street which was purpose built in the early 50's and soon hope to be moving to a brand new conference standard stadium on East Common Lane next to Selby College.
The clubs record goalscorer is Graham Shepherd who notched up 158 goals between 1963 and 1982.
Selby Towns’ modern era has seen them reach the 4h round of the F.A.Vase in 1996, the same year they won the NCEL Division One Title.
The club have flourished under the guidance of former Player Bob Lyon, winning the Presidents Cup, Barkston Ash Cup and The Vets over 40's all in 2001.
Season 2004/05 saw the first team finish runners up in The NCEL Premier and The CJ 19's runners up in the Youth Alliance league, and the first team were Runners up in the Presidents Cup and semi finalists in The League Cup, finishing 8th in the league and The Under 19's finished third in 2009.
After a few upheavals in the past two seasons, the club has seen three managers in 12 months as they try to solidify the club after the departure of long standing manager Lyons. At the start of the season manager Leon Sewell was appointed, but after a dismal run of results he was asked to leave in September 2011, and Dave Heard was appointed, and managed to win Selby’s first game, in his first game in charge as the Robins went through to the first round of the FA Vase with a 2-1 victory against Winterton Rangers, followed by the first league win in his second game at Arnold Town.
The club are hopeful that Dave will manage to take the club forward in 2011, and the future looks bright.
