Selby's reign in the premier division is over as this latest four nil loss condems them to division one next season. The fourth game running they lost four nil and Craig Aspinall had a 75th minute penalty saved by Jamie Green to deny The Robins some little cheer of a goal. The first goal was a really soft goal to concede and once that goal goes in you can see the confidence drain from the lads. A big boot down the middle up the slope was allowed to bounce and Craig Wilkinson nipped in to slot home, an easier goal he will never score. Callum Ward worked his socks off up front for The Robins but was frustrated in his efforts throughout the game. By the end of the first half Selby were very much still in the game and thought that they could get something from the game in the second period.
But it all went wrong after ex Robin, Tom Hyde shot from outside the area and found the bottom corner. There followed a period of sustained pressure from the hosts and they added two further goals to put the game to bed and seal The Robins fate. Other results finally condemned Selby to the first division. When the penalty was awarded for a foul on Ward Craig Aspinall asserted his captains authority, showing maturity beyond his years, and snatched the ball away from Fogarty. Craig after all was the Club's penalty taker but his kick was saved superbly by Green and Aspinall's effort from the rebound was parried away for a corner. So four nil and down. Perhaps now we can relax and see the season out with a bang rather than a whimper.
