Sharks squash Knights to get back to winning ways.

Shaw Cross Sharks kept in touching distance of the playoff spots with a sparkling 30-6 away victory over Normanton Knights.

Jordan Anderson and Jack Gledhill had a pair of tries each with Martin Woodhead and Ross Roebuck also got in on the scoring.

Normanton could not get any of their usual slick passing going with the Sharks' defence suffocating them, winning the ruck and controlling the tempo of the game.

Brett Turner's side had lost in controversial fashion to Normanton at home back in June but lay down a huge marker with the win. The Sharks went in 10-6 up at the half before shutting out the homer side in the second period whilst scoring a further 20 points in the process.

For Shaw Cross they end a run of four without a win and are still in with a huge chance of securing a top six finish and heading into the post season.

Turner felt his side were worthy winners today. "We completed, cut out the errors and punished them. We've been lacking some cutting edge recently but not today that's as good an attacking display we've put on all season."

With Hunslet Warriors losing against Pilkington Recs Shaw Cross are within one point of seventh spot and keep the pressure up on Skirlaugh who emerged victorious against Milford earlier today.

Turner hopes that this represents a turning point for the club heading into the home stretch of the season. "This is a huge win for us. Now we need to back it up with another one when we play Saddleworth next week. We need to get our consistency back and press on."

Shaw Cross take on Saddleworth Rangers at Shark Park next week. The Sharks dismantled the Rangers 12-32 in Saddleworth earlier this season.
