Code of Conduct

Membership Rules
Membership of this website denotes acceptance of the club’s Code of Conduct and the following rules. Actions to be taken in case of a breach of the rules are also set out below.

The website has many articles and news items where registered members can add their own comments. Members can also submit articles for inclusion and post messages on the club’s forum.

‘Everybody involved in rugby league has a duty to ensure that the reputation of the sport remains high and that they act according to the highest standards of behaviour. Everybody must respect the rights of others, treating all equally. The needs of young people are to be especially considered – they must be able to participate in a safe and enjoyable environment, and are to be protected from all kinds of abuse. Rugby league is opposed to any form of discrimination, and will not tolerate it. All those involved in rugby league must respect the rights and choices of all human beings, treating everyone equally and sensitively regardless of their gender, ethnic origin, cultural background, sexual orientation, religion, ‘race’ or political affiliation.’ (Adapted and summarised from the introduction to our Code of Conduct)

The Code of Conduct also states that nobody must use ‘foul, sexist or racist language’ when participating in club activities or representing the club in any way.

Therefore, any comments, articles or posts must comply with following:
• Users must not post any content that breaches the club’s Code of Conduct i.e. all are to be treated equally and as you would wish to be treated. Offensive comments, articles or forum posts, including foul, sexist or racist language are not allowed.
• Any comments, articles or posts must be suitable for children.
• Any comments, articles or posts must reflect rugby league and the club in a positive light. This means no accusations of cheating or unfair play by opposition or referees, no calling another team dirty, no reference to discipline issues. For further clarification of this rule, please contact the Webmaster.
• You must not post any information that makes you personally identifiable to a non-club member, unless this is for a genuine club-related reason and you are over 18 years of age. DO NOT post your full name, address, email address, home or mobile telephone number or anything else that would allow a non-club member to contact you other than by contacting your coach.

BREACHES OF RULES
The site is monitored every day where possible and a bad words filter is in place to catch foul language before it makes its way onto the website. Any content that breaches the website rules will be edited or removed as deemed most appropriate by the Webmaster. However, as a user of this website, you must accept that you may, from time to time, see something undesirable before it can be removed.

If a serious breach of rules occurs, the procedure outlined below will be followed. However, in case of a minor infringement, the Webmaster may edit content without issuing a warning or any explanation. If you require an explanation, contact the Webmaster.

On the first occasion where a member breaches these rules, an official warning will be issued to the user’s sign up email address. If a further breach occurs, a final warning will be issued. If a third offence occurs, the club will consider a temporary or permanent suspension of a user’s posting privileges and/or a temporary or permanent suspension of site membership.

This website automatically logs a member’s IP address (this is standard practice on most, if not all, websites), which makes it possible to complain about you to your Internet Service Provider if necessary. Please also be aware that the club will probably recognise who you are from the comments you leave, so posting anything on this website is by no means anonymous within the club. Breaches of the Code of Conduct will be taken seriously by the club. Please see the separate Constitution for details of the club’s disciplinary procedure. If you are not a club member, all efforts will be made to find out who you are and complain to your club (if applicable).

If many users continually breach the rules, it is possible to remove any interactive elements to the website, either temporarily or permanently. This would only ever be a last resort.

If you are under 18 years of age, the club and the Webmaster do not take any responsibility for anything 'undesirable' that you may see on the site, although all efforts will be made to ensure that this never happens. If you are under 18, it is the responsibility of your parents to monitor your internet usage.

These rules may be amended at any time by the Webmaster or the club, so please check them regularly.

IN THE EVENT OF A VERY SERIOUS BREACH OF THESE RULES, THE WEBMASTER MAY IMPOSE ANY PENALTY DETAILED ABOVE, INCLUDING A PERMANENT BAN, REMOVAL OF WEBSITE MEMBERSHIP AND BLOCKING OF A USER'S IP ADDRESS, WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR DISCUSSION. IN SUCH CASES, THE WEBMASTER'S DECISION IS FINAL.
