SHEFFIELD RUFC - 1902

U13's dominate in a deluge

by Julian Woodman

Sheffield's U13's finished a great season with a win in the rain at Barnsley.

In a game shortened due to horrendous conditions by a sympathetic referee, Sheffield turned in a great performance playing some slick rugby.

Encouraged by a big turnout by the lads' parents, the lads ran in nine tries against one by our hosts in a game where forward superiority again provided the platform for a dominant performance.

Sheffield were able to ensure that all players gained game time and some of the lads who aren't regular starters caught the eye with some strong performances. Particular mention should go to captain Thomas Dennison, who again led from the front, ensuring that he played in every fixture of the season and capped a fine individual performance with a hat-trick of tries.

Final score Barnsley 5 v Sheffield 51

Sheffield's scorers: Tries - Thomas Dennison x3,Harry Barnes,Oscar Baldwin, Jack Hutchinson, Eoin Doyle, Lucas Hunt-Brown, Benji Lee.
Conversions - Jake Steade x3.

This fine win signals the end of a great season for the team. They played 23 games, winning 22 and losing just 1.

They scored 913 points,conceded 177 and scored 158 tries.

Well done to all the lads for their commitment and hard work over the season.
