Sheffield U16 v Doncaster U16
A scrappy mach where Sheffield win in last 5 minutes
Sheffield were again playing with a depleted squad which showed in that we never really found any rhythm in the game. Was a good experience for the team to play on a 4G pitch which we didn't know about until we arrived so some footwear changes were necessary.
Sheffield started slowly but a break away try from the back of a scrum on the half way line secured first blood, the rest of the match was pretty much tit for tat with Doncaster competing well at the breakdown and Sheffield failing to make much progress over the gain line despite a lot of possession.
The second half was barely underway when a clash of heads caused a lengthy stoppage and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Doncaster player who had to leave the field.
With 5 minutes to go Sheffield found themselves 15-14 down but rallied exceptionally well to score from a quick tap penalty with barely any time left on the clock, the difference in the final scores being Sheffields kicking accuracy.
