An excellent weekend just gone for the Mini and Junior sections at Sheffield RUFC. Over 200 kids involved across numerous age groups with success a plenty and great fun had by all. Parents included!!
The minis were hosted excellently by Pontefract RUFC, with the U8s, U9s and U11s made the trip over to West Yorkshire and had three belting games with a number of players making their debuts at each age grade. Fantastic to see new boys getting involved in the game!
The U10s also had a great game over at familiar foes Wheatley Hills. The game was played in excellent spirits and both teams scored some brilliant tries!
The U12s didn’t play but had an excellent weekend nevertheless, with the boys working hard to improve their contact skills around the breakdown.
The U13s, 14s, 15s and 16s were all in action against Notts Paviors, having an incredibly successful weekend all round.
The U15s proved too strong for a relatively inexperienced Pavs team, running out 50-0 winners on the road. However, fortunes were reversed for the U13s who slipped to a narrow loss.
The U14s and U16s gained strong home victories; the U14s running out 36 – 13 winners, with an outstanding individual performance from Zac Dunn, who scored 4 tries! The U16s had a much tighter encounter, battling to a 22 – 20 victory against a resilient Pavs team, scoring with the last play of the game to take the spoils!
Overall, another successful weekend for the Sheffield RUFC junior set up. Participation levels again high, and some solid performances from all involved. If you are interested in getting involved in Rugby then please do not hesitate to head down to Abbeydale on a Sunday morning!
