The Sheffield Storm head coach Wayne Porter has announced the captain for the Midlands Leagues play-off finals day, and he has selected Daniel Croskell to lead the Storm in the play-offs. As per Storm tradition, Daniel will select his alternative captains in due course.
Wayne described the reasons behind the selection of Croskell: “Daniel showed huge leadership qualities at the National finals, not just on the rink but also on the bench during the U-23 tournament, and along with David Grant gave the group leadership. For me how Dan handled being an assistant during the National finals was the tip of the iceberg of how Dan has fitted into the side, and been one of the unsung leaders within the ranks. This is another opportunity to see how Daniel goes with a letter on his shirt, with a view for next season.
This is no slur upon how Daniel Plant has captained the side, because he has done a fantastic job, and has guided the team in the right direction and it’s showing with the results that we have had recently. In my eyes he is the long term captain of this hockey club and I am sure that, after the season has finished the discussion will be had with the committee so that we can plan for next season”
Wayne also gave us his thoughts on this weekend’s tournament:
“This is the last chance of silverware, we were agonisingly unlucky not to win the national finals last weekend, it was certainly not due to a lack of effort and desire from any of the team. Let’s give this tournament the same determination and passion as we did at the Nationals and we give ourselves the best chance.
Good luck to everyone wearing the treasured Storm jersey WASAW”
Sheffield Storm's quarter final is against the Arnold Cubs at 2:35PM
