Trials to be part of the Development Centre are in September and we have been asked to recommend young people who we think have the skills and aptitude to become County Hockey Players. If you would like to be considered for any of the groups below please email me asap and I will talk to your coaches and then forward you the County Trials application form. Closing date is 31st July 2012.
The Development centres will run on Sundays for 1 1/2 hours every two weeks from October to Christmas and then those selected will continue onto the County Squad. This squad will also have training every two weeks from Christmas to Easter. The cost is usually about £40 per term.
The age groups for girls are as follows:-
U13 Born 2000/01
U14 Born 1999
U15 Born 1998
U17 Born 1996
Players and GK's in each age group
The age groups for boys are as follows this year :-
U13 boys Born 2000/01
U15 boys Born 1998/1999
The U17 age group has very sadly not been catered for by County this year due to a number of reasons. Whilst this is very disappointing can I please make you aware that Simon Holloway (our previous coach and Herts County coach) will welcome U17 boys and also Northamptonshire have not done their trials yet . Watch this space for more details.
To only have 1 age group for the boys is unbelievable. The worst thing is that they are only notifying now - so there is no chance for any of the boys to compete for Herts, Bucks or Northants. What's wrong with Bedfordshire hockey?
I couldn't have put it any better myself, James. My lad was one of the U17 keepers, to say he's disappointed is an understatement.
This is Trevor not Luke. I have written to the EHB & Tessa has had contact with the head of Beds Hockey. It's pathetic to be quite frank. Something may happen but then only possibly at U15 level, which is something, but leaves the U17s in the County completely in the lurch!!
Trevor, Thanks for the update. If it's coaches that they need why haven't they asked clubs if anyone is prepared to help? I would have thought even level 1 coaches could help out? Dom is understandably not impressed
