TJ’s quality kicking downs Shelford
Injury worries too...

SHELFORD 19 - TONBRIDGE JUDDIANS 48
The game began really well for Shelford, taking an early lead with a Tuli Paela try from a good backs move. TJ’s responded with a try from a driving lineout before a Josh Simons break away try stretched the Shelford lead to 14 – 5. The TJ’s pack then became more dominant, driving play up the pitch and scoring two more forwards tries. The home side then lost Tom Ransom with a serious knee injury, he was kept in hospital afterwards. The Shelford team responded well and finished the half camped in the opposition 22. Half time Shelford 14 TJ’s 17. It looked like game on!!
Straight after half time the Shelford team imploded. A clearance kick charged down, a missed touch kick from a penalty and a dropped high ball all led to tries for TJ’s – 21 unanswered points and the game was gone as TJ’s extended their lead to 18 – 14 in six minutes!!
The TJ’s fly half then gave a master class of kicking out of the hand, pinning the Shelford team back in their own 22. The Shelford crowd don’t like kicking in open play but they had to applaud this well executed tactic. Under pressure Shelford leaked two further tries before rallying and adding a final score from Charlie Baker.
The big worry for the Shelford side is the injuries to the front row which leave them without a fit front row for the next league game.
