Get well soon Oli

Shelford 5ths 36 : 26 Wendons Ambo
Delightful day at Davey Field for sport – not necessarily rugby but definitely sport. Luckily Ginger Dickon wasn’t with us so we were alright for sun cream. The opening exchanges were spectacular with the 5ths looking at their best dominating every department and starting to build a good game plan .
A couple of tries and Connor Denton special dummies into the game and we were cruising , it was going so well then the allotment pitch jinx struck . Winger Oli caught an attacking kick and returned straight back at them as he does. 10 seconds later and his year changed dramatically as did the shape of his leg. He had to man up as someone called for an ambulance and his was cared for and got to Addenbrookes asap .
The rest of us did the rugby thing and moved to another pitch and eventually restarted the game. The gap had affected the quality of our play and we needed to reshape before we got back in the game. They scored try for try as we struggled with the ground conditions ( the car park was softer ) and it took some inspirational play from the Man of the Match Ali G who suddenly dropped something and played like a Fijian Sevens player !!
They had a couple of our brave Armed Forces playing so had quality and they put points on the board at regular intervals. They was an incident with a rabbit hole / sniper in the clock tower that took the aged full back out . Hilarious again. We played on and managed to put enough points on the board to reflect the quality and quantity of the players on each side.
Names to mention this week would be Crispy stepping in at 9 , Connor , Ben S , Adam H , Luke and Pay Day .
The game ended with sunburn and grass burns to look after and we were proud to be part of a 100% win weekend for Shelford . Next week is our final game against Cantabs ( I wonder if they’ll manage to get a team ??)
Oli’s leg was broken in a couple of places ( he’s not going to those places again ) but he’s had an operation and is well as can be . He won’t be able to play next week but is asking when he can play again .
Thank you Wendon for being our favourite opponent and look forward to next season .
