Five Ways Old Edwardians 47-10 Shelford Peacocks

The Peacocks struggled to find their rhythm on a tough away day to Five Ways Old Edwardians.

A high penalty count proved costly, with the hosts effective use of the quick tap penalty bringing them justified rewards.

Shelford can take heart from powerful defensive showings from Bertille Gleize and Laura Nunez-Mulder, and some incisive running from Ange Laino and Leanne Robinson. Em Flach added another try to her tally in a close, hard fought first half. And the peacocks had the last laugh, when a strong final fifteen minutes gave a deserved try to scrum half Millie Rose shortly before the full time whistle.

Congratulations to players player, Ange, playing her first game for Shelford and leading by example with her line speed and tackling in defence. Her fellow centre, Verena Zyka, was awarded coaches player as she continues to make the 13 shirt her own with big tackles and intelligent attacking play.
