Shelford U15s 2nd win from 2 in the County Cup
Shelford started brightly …..
Shelford started brightly with a well worked try through the centre. The forwards carried the ball fantastically and then got the ball to Tom Bundock, who crossed the whitewash for his first try for the club, duly converted by Harvey Taylor.
Ryley Stiebrins-Brown scored next after several sets of good hands and some excellent rucking from the Shelford squad, followed by Taylors second successful conversion.
The forwards showed their metal again , with some great runs from Will Rand , controlled rucks at the break-down , and some well executed set pieces which allowed Toby Owers to cross the line for a well deserved try, converted by Taylor.
The forwards continued to put in hard work and the windy conditions meant this was not a day for expansive passes but more close hard running which the opposition defence found hard to stop. After several hard lines run by the Shelford centres, the ball was passed out to Will Rand who scored and once again Taylors boot connected well and the try was converted.
Shelford’s final try was another forwards dominated attack completed by Will Edwards, also scoring his first try for the squad.
Shelford's defence was good, especially near to our try line but the opposition overcame our defensive line three times followed each time by a successful conversion, resulting in a final score of 33-21 to the home side - our second win out of our two cup games so far this season.
