Hertford at Home on Remembrance Sunday
Sensational Shelford Sides
A lovely sunny November day greeted Hertford on their visit to the Davey Field. Shelford had a good turn-out of players with two new recruits, which is great to see. It would be great to increase our player numbers so that we can match some of the larger groups we are encountering. So, if anyone can speak to parent friends or encourage children to ask their friends at school about coming down for a run around that’d be excellent.
Anyway back to the match. Shelford fielded 3 teams of 6 or 7. From what I saw, all teams played well and across all the games, I suspect we outscored Hertford. However, most of the games were played in good spirits and I think everyone had fun. Some physical running from some Hertford players caused us some difficulties that we’ll deal with better next time.
From the sidelines, I saw some great running with the ball and some fierce defence. Let’s keep these up and improve our working together as a team. Next week we are away at Wendens Ambo. Things to work on will be organising ourselves in defence and attack, but most importantly making quick offloads to support runners who are running onto the ball, not standing still. Those players that can make the ball boy duty on Saturday will be getting some coaching on these elements from the 1st team. Our next ball boy duty is set for 23rd March, so let's get that in the diaries and get a good turn-out of U8s for the sessions.
