It’s been a busy few weeks at the Dovecote ...

as the dust continues to settle following joint manager Jeff Stocking’s sudden decision to step down from his role, leaving John Folwell in sole charge.

Folwell made the difficult decision to immediately release a number of players from the squad following a stuttering September, with Eddie Appleton, Lewis Hamilton, Levi Porter, Jake Duffy and Courtney Meade amongst those leaving the club in recent weeks for pastures new, whilst coach Jason White also departed due to personal commitments.

The impact was immediate however as the squad, boosted by the addition of Long Eaton United striker Theo Smith and Gedling Miner Welfares winger Nathan Kelly, responded with three back to back wins to see Dynamo rise up to seventh in the Midland Premier League.

‘It’s been a difficult couple of weeks’ said Folwell, ‘but the players have been brilliant in the three games since Jeff and Jason left. We were all disappointed to see them both leave, but I hope that they both might return to the club in some guise in the future’.

Regarding the clubs recent transfer activity, Folwell confirmed that he was still hoping to bring in further recruits in the coming weeks as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures. ‘With five or six lads having left the club, and only bringing Theo and Nathan in to date, the squad is definitely a couple of players lighter than we’d want it to be. We are definitely in the market to strengthen and have the budget to do so – but we’d rather wait for the right player to become available rather than upset the balance of the squad. We’ve got a few irons in the fire, and we’ll see what develops over the next week or two’.

Meanwhile, with goalkeeper Laurie Pearson set for a spell on the sidelines following a knee injury collected in September’s FA Cup tie against Rushall Olympic, a series of goalkeepers have helped fill the void with Ryan Price and Ryan Swift amongst those standing in between the sticks. Most recently however has seen Jack Hartopp arrive on loan from Barwell FC, with the young goalkeeper making an immediate positive impression in two victories over Continental Star and Bardon Hill. Although Hartopp returned to Barwell as cover for this weekend’s FA Cup tie against AFC Rushden, Dynamo hope that the goalkeeper will be allowed to return to the Dovecote until Pearson returns to full fitness.
