New Mill 4 Shepshed 2
A great performance between the sticks by keeper Sam Andrew and a 44th minute goal by Ricky Muggleton, his first for the club, gave Shepshed Dynamo a half time lead in their first ever match at New Mills.
Manager Chris White had made a couple of changes of personnel to the team heavily defeated by Carlton in midweek. Muggleton and Jerome O’Connor being given starts up front in place of Richard Wilson and Lee Weemes (ill) whilst new signing Rob Palings came in at right back. Whilst another newcomer Ndricim Krasniqi was on the subs bench – can’t wait to see how Craig Wheatley deals with that on the Dovecote PA system.
It has to be said the lead was somewhat flattering to the Dynamo as they had been subjected to heavy pressure in the first half. However when Jerome O’Connor doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, with his first for the club, it looked as if Shepshed were well on their way to a third victory in four away games.
However the game was to take a dramatic turn on the hour mark when the home side netted twice in sixty seconds, Carlos Meakin netting the first and then Leon Grandison scoring the equalizer.
Two minutes later New Mills went ahead when the linesman awarded the Millers a somewhat embarrassing penalty for an infringement well outside the penalty area and David Fitzpatrick converted.
Tempers frayed after this decision and the referee proceeded to collect names in his little black book but Shepshed’s misery was completed by a fourth goal for the hosts in the 71st minute by Anthony Barras.
Shepshed: - Andrew, Paling, Sturgess, Smith, Screaton, Hore, Rennalls (Krasniqi 75), Ward, Chaplin, Muggleton, O’Connor. Subs not used J Jenkins, White. Att 138.
