Boldmere St Michaels 2 Shepshed Dynamo 5
Shepshed Dynamo made the perfect reply to Saturday's defeat at home to Heanor with a five two away vitory at Boldmere St Michaels but Dynamo didn't have things all their own way.
The result moves them up a place to fourth in the Midland Football League table ahead of the visit of Leek Town in th FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round on Saturday.
Jimmy Gray made four changes from Saturdays side. Dan Bastock replacing Steve Morse in goal, Sam Preston replacing Josh Hill, Liam Read in for Luke Richards, returning from suspension Niall Prendervill replaced Ben Harris and Stuart Mcnaught for Alex Troke.
For the second time this season Shepshed scored within the first minute. Shay Brennans opening goal was actually timed at twenty one seconds and forty nine seconds later he had doubled his tally and Dynamo's lead.
Shepsheds confidence was high and Lewis Fenney did well to tip over Liam Reads effort on three minutes and a minute later Joe Pheasant should have made it three but his header was off target. Fenney did well again on six minutes saving from Liam Hursts free kick.
Boldmeres first effort came on nine minutes with Max Black off target from Alistair Brauns cross. Boldmere began to ease theirselves into the game and get over the shell shock of the two early strikes. Stuart Mcnaught doing well with a last minute tackle to deny Boldmeres captain Joe Smith.
The mikes gained their reward on twenty one minutes a twenty five yard curling free kick from Ryan Nesbitt reducing the deficit for the hosts. Boldmere were in the hunt for an equaliser with Nesbitt off target on twenty eight minutes after he latched onto Brauns cross from Craig Milligans free kick and Nesbitt thought he had earned a penalty with the theory he was handed off in the penalty box but the match official turned down his appeal. Bastock on his league debut for Shepshed then did well to tip Smiths close range effort onto the post and collect the rebound.
Hurst was then off target on thirty one minutes and Michael Reeves effort was saved by Fenney on thirty seven minutes. A minute later Bastock turned over Nesbitts effort. Before Milligan was off target on forty minutes.
Shepshed restored their two goal advantage in injury time Whymark feeding Reeve who got clear of Boldmeres defence to increase Shepsheds lead at the break.
Boldmere made a double substitution at half time and looked to reduce the deficit again with Nesbitt just off target with Smith outstretching in vain to turn Nesbitts effort goalbound on forty seven minutes. Three minutes later Bastock saved from Nesbitt.
Shepshed had two chances of their own with both Preston and Pheasant having efforts blocked on fifty eight minutes.
Boldmere reduced the scoreline to one goal again on sixty nine minutes Brad Lindsay combining with Charlie Morris whose cross was deflected for Nesbitt to head home.
Shepshed were spurred into a response with Read off target on seventy minutes.
Captain Jake Betts again restored a two goal advantage scoring from close range from a corner on seventy four minutes.
Read had a further effort blocked on eighty two minutes before Alex Troke picking up on loose Boldmere play on eighty seven minutes swerved his shot passed Fenney to make it five.
Shepshed move up a place to fourth and attentions now turn to Saturday. Leek Town from The Evo Stik South Division, one league above ourselves are the
visitors to the Dovecote Stadium in the 1st Qualifying Round of The Emirates FA Cup.
