Shepshed Dynamo 0 Heath Hayes 1
Shepshed Dynamo's penultimate home Bakers Midland Football Alliance game ended in defeat and ending a sequence of three games unbeaten.
Shepshed travelled to Heath Hayes earlier in the season and were comfortable victors, but Saturdays visitors certainly started the game in search of revenge.
In the first minute Harry Phillips corner hit the post and Adam Green fired wide from the rebound, Green again went close a minute later.
Shepshed's first real chance fell on thirteen minutes but Steve Chaplin shot wide. Shepshed were beginning to get on top Rob Mulonga threatening down the wing after 16 minutes and three minutes on Jonathan Jones shot was blocked by Ryan Goodwin in the Hayes goal. Connor Bennett's free kick two minutes later was flicked on by Chaplin but Jones scuffs wide. Then Jones was the closest with his goal bound effort cleared off the line a minute later.
After a period of pressure Heath Hayes took the lead in the twenty fourth minute a quick throw down the right hand side fell to Harry Phillips who curled his shot passed Ryan Thacker. Thacker subsequently withdrew from the game two minutes later due to ill health and was replaced by reserve team keeper Martin Cross.
Both teams had further chances as the half drew. On the half hour mark Chaplin's shot was saved by Goodwin and Andrew Davis headed wide for the visitors.
The story of a percentage of Shepshed's defeats in the 2013/14 season came to front again too many unconverted chances proving costly.
In the first minute of the half Chaplin's shot was cleared off the line.
The game went through a quitter period until fifty eight minutes in one of Heath Hayes more prominent players in the game and goalscorer Phillips firing wide. Nine minutes later Callum Thompson's shot was saved and a further minute later Sam Cook also fired wide.
Shepshed continued to press for an equaliser with fifteen minutes to go Thompson's free kick went straight at Goodwin, Jones's shot was once again blocked and both Lever and Jones efforts went over the bar.
Shepshed chances were over and the final chance fell to the visitors again Phillips threatening but stand in Cross was equal to the task.
With one home league game remaining on reflection a draw may have been a fair result but Shepshed's failure to take their chances cost them dearly and Heath Hayes with the solitary goal took all three points away with them.
