Tividale 3 Shepshed Dynamo 2
Shepshed Dynamo pushed Bakers Midland Football Alliance Champions Tividale all the way at The Beeches in the final league game of the season.
They were denied any share of the points though by a cruel deflected goal to allow the promoted side to take all three points.
In a loud and final party day atmosphere mainly from the travelling fans Tividale had the first effort bt Ryan Thacker was alert to the advancing Stuart How.
Shepshed then had the better of the play Sam Cook cross come shot going wide of the near post on six minutes and four minutes Alun Webb's shot was blocked, then on thirteen minutes Webb's shot was saved by Charles Price.
Tividale hit back Thacker saved Luke Paskin's shot on seventeen minutes. From the next attack the champions took the lead from a right side corner Zac Foster knocked the ball onto Ashley Jackson to shoot passed Thacker.
Shepshed responded Jake Lever's shot was saved by Price and on nineteen minutes it looked like Shepshed were given a foothold into the game when Rob Mulonga's cross was met by Paskin's hand and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Unfortunately Alun Webb's penalty was saved by Price.
This allowed Tividale back into the game on twenty two minutes Jackson fired wide and five minutes later after a good save from Thacker the ball rebounded to How who reacted quickly to fire into the empty net to double the score.
On the half hour mark Thacker produced a fine save from Nathan Waite.
The remainder of the half belonged in the main to Shepshed on thirty five minutes Sam Cook's shot was straight at Price and five minutes later Tommy Cooper - Richards fired over the top
Two minutes from the end of the half Shepshed opened their account a good ball from Cooper -Richards to Cook whose cross went under Price for Steve Chaplin to slide the ball into the empty net. The final chance of the half fell to Tividale's Paskin after Thacker had slipped from a pass back from Chris Gray but his effort went wide.
Tividale stared the half strongly Zac Foster's cross was met by Johnson but Thacker produced a save and the resultant corner came to no avail.
Shepshed began to take control of the half and Alun Webb became a constant threat down the left. On twenty four minutes his cross was met by the head of Cook but the ball looped straight to Price. Three minutes later it looked like Shepshed were to gain their second penalty of the game as Webb seemed to be brought down by Andrew Parsons but the ref waved away Shepshed's protests.
Six minutes later and the scores were level Webb's corner was slotted home by Callum Thompson but almost from the restart the Champions were back in front Jackson's shot took a cruel deflection leaving Thacker rooted to his line to watch the ball float into the top corner.
Shepshed were unlucky not to come away with a point on Thirty six minutes Thompson's free kick went over the top and with time running out both Thompson and Webb had good efforts.
Another season over and Shepshed now turn their minds to season 2014/2015.
