Our planning permission application was successful and is valid for 3 years – our thanks to the Town Council for their support. Unfortunately, progress on resolving the organisational/legal issue mentioned in the last brief is taking longer than expected. To ensure we can access serious RFU funding we have to be able to show that the receiving club is a solid going concern. Unfortunately the Terrace Club, that holds the lease with the Town Council, is simply an administrative structure through which very little actual business is undertaken. Consequently, we are trying to get the Lease changed to reflect the Rugby Club as the primary tennant and the Cricket Club as a licensed user. From the Project Briefing event we secured the support of Porter Dodson who offered to undertake this legal work for free (they prepared the Lease for the Town Council). Having started work we are now trying to agree exactly how this will work with the Cricket Club – but we will get there as everyone agrees that this is the right thing to do. Once achieved we can commence more formal contact with major sponsoring organisations.
A Communications Board will be put up in the main corridor of the Clubhouse this week. It provides an overview of the Project, anticipated costs, a funding level thermometer and will show the latest newsletter and fundraisers. If you can help with fundraising please contact me at (email@example.com) - many thanks.
