Clubhouse Improvement Plan

The solicitors, Porter Dodson, are currently drafting the legal documentation that will disband the Terraces Club so easing our route to RFU funding but ensuring the Cricket Club has appropriate access and use of the building as under the current arrangements – I’m now hopeful that this will finally be sorted before too long! My thanks to PorterDodson who are undertaking this work for free.

Attention is now turning to serious fundraising – a recent meeting with the RFU raised a few new issues as they are currently reviewing their policy on the balance between interest free loans and grants with the likely change towards more loans. This throws up a bigger problem for us as clearly loans have to be paid back! We also need to identify individuals who will provide the necessary loan guarantee(s) – if you feel you can help in this way we’d be very grateful and would ask you to contact the undersigned.

We also decided, again with support from Porter Dodson, to hold a major fundraising function and Merys Hopkins and Philippa O’Grady took up the challenge. It sold out – 240 tickets – in a matter of days but we continue to seek sponsorship and prizes for the draw and auction to maximise profit – again please help if you can. A massive thanks to Merys and Philippa – they’ve done a great job and this is exactly the kind of help we need. There will be more functions coming so keep your ear to the ground.

Detailed investiagtion has also begun of the requirements to secure funds from the likes of Viridor and Sport England – if you feel that the Rugby or Cricket Club has helped or benefited you or yours in any way then putting how in a letter to us would be hugely useful. Likewise, as users of the Club a note on how you see this project benefiting the Club and Town would help us build a supporting case – please write a letter and send via e-mail to the undersigned.
