History

Sheringham fc is one of the oldest and respected Clubs in the County having been formed in 1897.

In the 70's the Club were very successful and won the coveted Sterry Cup and reached the illustrious Norfolk Senior Cup Final but lost it's senior status in 1985.

The Club also lost it's Ground in 1988 and was near to folding, but a small band of dedicated members some still at the club including Alan Beasey, Peter Bacon and Chris Ayers and playing at the local school until 1996 when a purpose built Ground was built.

In 2002 Manager John Kowalyk started his ambitious plans with a target of Premier football within 5 years.

A tall order but by 2005 after 3 successive back to back Championship titles,(a record in the Anglian Combination history) the Shannocks under the guidance of Chairman Chris Ayers returned to the Premier Division after a 35 year absence. This was achieved with 2 years of the original plan to spare. Season 2007-08 saw the team return to Carrow Road in the Norfolk Senior Cup final a feat in itself considering their path to the final after beating Ridgeons Division 1 side Gorleston FC and Ridgeons Premier side Dereham Town in a thrilling 4-3 semi final. This saw the step down of Manager John Kowalyk to allow the appointment of the experienced Martyn Magee along with assistant Manager John Edridge, Unfortunately Magee due to work comittments stepped down and John Kowalyk was installed back as Manager with Edridge remaining as assistant.

These two, ogether with the players ground out the rest of the season and brought home the coveted Sterry Cup after 37 years and the Reserves won the Division 5 title under Macca, Drew and Beans.A first for the ACL league where 1st and Reserves won their respective Divisions.

That season also saw the club appoint Luke Frost as Goalkeeping Coach, a first for Sheringhamfc.

The next season saw many players leave most to Wroxham so JK stayed on with ex Shannock Karl Dickerson as Assistant Manager. It was a hard season and finished in the last third of the table. Karl Dickerson was then appointed as Manager for 2010-11 along with John Musgrove but again lasted a handful of games before leaving. The team continued with JK once again taking the reigns and despite many players leaving finished 10th.

With the club stalling for the last two season Chairman Kristian Gleave appointed for the 2001-12 season Bruce Cunningham the vastly experienced ex Wroxham Manager in the clubs quest for Ridgeons football and quickly saw Justin Fox appointed as Player coach.

The Club are very ambitious to climb the pyramid system and to improve the Weybourne facilities although the Club house and Pitch are one of the best in the league.

Sheringham fc are a very competitive but friendly Club and does it's best to offer all Teams, Officials and Spectators a warm welcome.
