A win is a win. Onward to the quarter-final!
The Sharks entered this game looking a bit thin with a squad of only 14. A battle was undoubtedly in prospect against old foes Chorley Panthers and so it proved.
The game was nip and tuck throughout. Chorley took first blood with an unconverted try. However, in true Shevy style, the Sharks bounced back with a classy effort of their own which also went unconverted.
The half continued in the same vein with the Sharks eventually prevailing and managing to edge in front with another unconverted try to make it 4-8 at the break.
The second half saw the see-saw continue when Chorley seized on an interception opportunity producing the only converted try of the game to take a slender 10-8 lead.
For much of the rest of the game the Sharks were in the ascendency and it was surely only a matter of time before they got the telling score to clinch victory. So it proved when, despite calls from the sidelines to take the 2 points from a penalty the Sharks decided to roll the dice and scored from a well executed training ground move.
Victory and the spoils for the Sharks!
In truth we were not at our best in this game but this team has character and the knack of winning, ugly or otherwise. Woe betide any team that underestimates us!
