Taylor and Kay brace too good for Waterhead
An outstanding defensive display from the forwards paved the way for this excellent performance, the platform and deft handling by the halves gave the backs plenty opportunity to open up the Waterhead defence on numerous oocasions.
Tries from Tom Kay (2), Joe Taylor (2), Brad Wallace and Joe Valentine ensured that the Sharks gained revenge for an early season defeat when we travelled to Waterhead with 12 men. The backs got all the points on the days, and even though Johnny Bates and Dave Haddock didn't get on the scoreboard they were a constant threat.
The defensive performance from the forwards (Over 150 tackles from the pack) paved the way for the halves, Sean Gaskell and Danny Binder to open up the Waterhead defence on several occasions.
4 of the tries were scored from 50 yards out as the backs showed a clean pair of heels to the forlorn chasers.
Man of the Match, Deane Meadows kept the opponents on the back foot with quick play the balls and great kicking options. Props ben tate and Peps, ably supported by Adam Robinson, Rob Brogan, Josh Ingram, Greg Whittaker and the impressive loose forward O'Neill took all the sting out of the Waterhead attacking options.
Highlights of the day was the return of Danny Bayliss and Josh Ingram, both who have been sidelined with long term injuries...the gametime gave them both great confidence.
Many thanks on the day to Ben Heaton who whilst not able to play did a great job looking after the lads injuries...a few sore limbs on the paddock today....Nothing that Tuesdays training wont resolve.
For those guys heading away on vacation, have a great time, stay fit, only 2 beers a day (LOL) and see you when you return.
