Is it over already...

Finishing the season with victory over Horspath, to deny them the Division title, we give hearty congratulations to the 1st XI for securing 3rd place in Division 2 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League, a sterling effort in only our second season. Interestingly the 206 points we got first time around would have seen us safe this year, and ith 5 games abandoned compared to Reading's 4 and Horspath's 3, a top 2 finish may have been possible had the weather been on our side!

Our pro Anupam Sanklecha has been of massive benefit to the club - as well as being a friendly, top notch coach for all the youth, he was Division 2's leading wicket take with 55 wickets at an average of 11.92, including four 5-wicket hauls! Couple with 262 runs at an average of 23, this was a fantastic return for his first season at the club, and we are hopeful he will return (along with his family and their fantastic curry!) in 2015.

Skipper Simon Hole finished just outside the Division's top 10 in 11th place with 450 runs at an average of exactly 50, supported namely by Joe Barrett with 291 runs at an average of 36. George Seacole support Anupam with the ball taking 17 wickets at an average of 25.

The 1st XI still have the Bernard Tollett Cup Final to be played, against Horspath, on Sunday September 14th, at Witney Mills. Despite missing Anupam and the Skipper, we look forward to signing the season off with another win over Horspath before they depart for Division 1, and it would be great to have your support!
