Karl Started at Sheffield Wednesday as a 17 year old before moving to Newcastle
United under Sir Bobby Robson he then returned to Sheffield this time to play for Sheffield United he also had spells at Halifax Town, Grimsby Town, Barrow FC, Hucknall Town, Retford United, Goole, Stocksbridge, Sheffield FC, Alferton and Kettering

Karl had the following to say about his appointment
I am delighted to be taking my first steps into management with Shirebrook I will bring back passion and desire and will make the team hard to beat i aim to make Shirebrook a fortress and get them back where they belong fighting for promotion.

Karl first game in charge will be Saturday home game against Ollerton Town
