Retford Match Preview

Shirebrook are in action for the final time in 2017 when Retford United visit Langwith Road Shirebrook will be looking for 6 points from the festive double header after picking up a 3-0 win away at Retford last weekend thanks to goals from Joe Cheeseman X2 and Kieren Watson

Shirebrook Manager Rob Camm had this to say about the game

As always we are looking forward to the game and hopefully a good crowd down at Langwith Road. We feel we are in a good position going into 2018.
We set out the season with a target of getting the club back to the right end of the table, bringing in some local talent and increasing the attendance.
We are meeting all of those goals and are now in a position to set new ones.
We have a young, local core of players mostly aged between 18-21 which I believe can carry the club forward. The attendances are up 40% on last year with derby games still to come. Recent signings of Jordan Claxton from Rainworth has given us a bit more strength in depth and balance. So I’m excited to see where we go.
Last Saturday the final score maybe looked comfortable but could have been different had Wazza not redeemed himself with the penalty save. So we expect a tough game and the quick turnaround means they will come eager to prove a point. I’m sure it will be an entertaining game
I want to finish by wishing all our fans a Happy New Year and hope 2018 is a successful one for us
