Shirebrook play their first game of 2017 on Monday 2nd January and it’s a replay of their final game of 2016 as they visit Rossington Main Shirebrook will be hoping for a much better performance and result after goals from Jason Stokes, Lee Holmes and Lewis Szanto gave Rossington the Boxing day win

Manager Karl Colley had the following to say about the game

I would like to start by wishing everybody a happy new year from myself the players and the staff and look forward to 2017 being a big year for us. The last few weeks have been very disappointing in our performances and the boxing day game against Rossington summed it up. We only had 11 players available and missing our big players we found it difficult against Rossington.There was a chance for the players to show me what they had to offer me but a lot failed. There was no character no desire no passion and that is something we require at Shirebrook and will not be tolerated while I’m in charge. I think we need to put 2016 to bed and look forward now. So, we play Rossinton again this Monday with players returning to the squad which will boost our fire power plus a couple of new signings in certain areas. We want to go now till the end of the season unbeaten and finish off this season on a run going into next season and start the 2017/18 season on a good run. I hope we can get a good following and get supporters on board in the new year and push forward.
