Shirebrook Pick Up Derby Day Win

Goals from Chris Timons and Kieren Watson handed Shirebrook a 2- 1 derby day win against Ollerton

ATT 205

MOTM Varley

Shirebrook were quick out the blocks and were ahead in the 4th minute when Adam Colton corner found Chris Timons at the front post and he headed in but the visitors didn’t hang about and soon began to create some chances of there own but all of them were wide of the target but in the 15th minute Ollerton were level when Gav King was left unmarked in the box and he slotted the ball under Squires in the Shirebrook goal but the scores didn’t stay level for long as in the 25th minute a goal kick from Squires was flicked on by Brewin into the path of Kieren Watson who was 1 on 1 with Mccormack in the Ollerton goal and he smashed the ball into the net to restore Shirebrook lead as the half was drawing to a close Ollerton did have a chance to level the scores but Kyle Ludlow couldn’t keep his shot down and it was Shirebrook who went into the break with the advantage.

Shirebrook came out looking to repeat there start from the first half with Joe Naylor forcing a top draw save from Mccormack and minutes later Shirebrook almost extended there advantage when a corner caused confusion in the box and the ball hit the post before Ollerton managed to scramble it away Shirebrook were forced into a change mid-way through the half with Declan Brewin going off and being replaced by Daneil Williams and his pace was causing all sorts of problems for the Ollerton defence with the duo almost getting a 3rd for Shirebrook when Williams squared the ball to Watson but he couldn’t get his to the ball to tap it into the net as the game went into the last 10 minutes Ollerton began to put pressure on the Shirebrook defence but Shirebrook stayed firm and saw out the game to claim all 3 points.

Shirebrook are back in action on Tuesday night when they visit Hallam FC 7:45 KO and are back at Langwith Road on Thursday night when Bridlington Town visit in the League Cup 7:45 ko
