vital points at Cleeve, The Chair has a pop, and other bits...

Greetings gentle readers...
And i'm in a much better frame of mind today...

Lets get the pot pourri of news out of the way first tho!
Ladies!! Don't forget the Amm Summers Party tonight at the club hosted by Lizzie Benneyworth.. It starts at 7 at the club and I am assured that Mr Cant will not be modelling his faded blue knickers so that should double the attendence. No men will be there unless Lizzie has a couple on the catwalk...
Don't worry guys there is one for us next month!
If your not going don't forget Evo the Supremo will be revealing all on Stroud FM this evening at 7 (105.9 ) or the internet..
Lastly Rovers European are supplying the coach for our trip to weymouth Saturday...
10.30 Bust Station Nailsworth
11.00 Little Chef Stonehouse..

Right then after that word from our sponsor lets talk about midweek footie!
Firstly a quick congratulation to our league colleques Yate who beat Newport in the FA Cup at Newport on Tuesday and progressed to the FA Cup 1st Round where they will travel to Cheltenham. 1463 saw them win..
Secondly, the barmy army went to Witney and watched the faboulous Baker Boys win 3-1 in the floodlit cup. Highly enjoyable and thoroughly deserved. Brimmo are now at home to Reading Town on the 13th November and Woody don't have a game so join us there..

And so gentle readers we move to last night. The game kicked off at 7.30 and inspite of the huge amount of reminders Tricky still managed to turn up at 7.45. It's his age..
Evo reckons that we possibly had less possession than we had Saturday and that may be true but what a difference there was in what we achieved with it!
Apart from one real scare when Pritch hacked the ball away from a shot that might have gone in I was never really concerned. Captain Marvel marshalled his troops around him and he tweeted this morning he had a sore forehead. Not surprised - can't remember him being beaten in the air!
The midfield harried and busied themselves and we looked creative. The biggest thing was the quality of the crosses and both goals were very similar. Good build ups, whipped crosses and diving headers! Firstly by birthday boy Luke G who remarked on facebook how nice it is to score on his birthday (Insert own innuendo here!) and secondly by Ross. Both goals were their first for the club. Added to that Luke and Joey had 1 on 1s blocked by the keeper and Ralph Coates had a shot kicked off the line - so it could have been even better! Only sour note was that Canty boy pulled a hammy so might be out for a bit...

We also had the Chair venting his spleen at a lino for a perceived bad offside flag only to have to apologise to the smouldering wreckage after out own better positioned fans told him the flag bearer was in fact correct. I thought Paul B remarking that it was nice to see our own club linesman suporting his collegue was very funny...

I was treated like a pariah last night coz I've got a cold! Bunch of wimps - it's a cold not the black death - but at least I had an excuse for a couple of Jamesons when I got home and very nice it was too - so there!

Jody decided that as Saturday's were being a disaster he would try a midweek banker and re wrote the poverb: If at first you don't suceeed try try fail again...
Get Big Phil's partner Sheila to pick em for you mate! She is doing a better job on the predictor for Phil than he can do and has lifted him into a shout for the monthly prize....

In the dash for the stats Jake still leads with 43, Tom King has 31, Ralph 28 and Captain Fantastic has 27 with the Brown Dirt Cowboys lagging behind...

See you all at Weymouth!
