5 goals, Predictor, a lady's night and Bevan's Banker..

So the faithful gathered in the sunshine, were impressed by Lizzy B's apron (!) and stuffed their faces and waited for the crucial league game against Paulton. The barmy army divested their coats and welcomed their newest member - the very lovely Debs! Get her signed up on the web site Sumps!!

What transpired over the first 45 minutes failed to follow any given script. Evo aged 10 years watching the first half as Wood failed to pass and looked at sixs and sevens. It was no surprise when Paulton took the lead and looked the better side throughout the first period.
Somehow, and god knows how, we went in 2-1 up at the break. First Jake started and finished a move that also needs full credit to Alice for battling down the right (and yes Smash he does get a goal and an assist!) Then Coatsey banged in the second from a Canty corner. Check out Brian's picture of his celebration as he attempts to catch flies whilst running!
The fact we were winning owes a lot to Kinger who made several good stops, Luke G's chasing down and Coatsey being Coatsey..
Even when we got the third after a great move involving Sticks and Singher and Jake's finish, Rovers still looked dangerous and it was only the perfect positioning of the lino that denied them a penalty.
Enter Jamie Martin and he finished the thing off with a couple of close range finishes and it doesn't matter how close he was - he had to get there so fair play Jamie!
By that time we were running riot and Paulton fell apart as we improved. That win lifted us to a respectable 14th....
I'd like to complement the Ref yesterday who refereed really sensibly and with a smile and apologised if he got one wrong. Could it be that he wasn't being assessed ...
Evo and I had a multiple choice for mom with the afore mentioned trio and Jake with a brace and two assists - so whatever they can all have an award although I did give it to Coatesy in the Non League Paper!
The Result of all this plethora of points is that Jake is streaking off into the distance with 41 points while Kinger, Alice, Timmy and Smash jockey for position brhind him...

A new month and the predictor enters a new stage with 3 new entrants! Turbine View, The Very Lovely Debs (as she is no be known) and Anonymous (whoever they are!) and all enjoyed top half starts..
Joe tops the pool this week over two of the Benneyworth Mafia and Moons reverted to a normal week - still beat me tho - sigh...
I do confess to having a quiet chuckle as Evo finished bottom with 10 points inspite of his insider dealings. Now all we need is top tipster Bevan to join the ranks...

And this leads me nicely into the weekly anal ysis of Bevan's Banker and I have to report an improvement. Yes he got one of the three results right ... He told my source that "we would be laughing on the other side of our face - when it comes in..." We will see Jody! we will see....
Hopefully he will let me have his selection earlier next week as we face the long journey to Poole and I need to get it posted...

If you cannot get to Poole then go and see the Ressies return to League action when they take on Letcombe Reserves at the Bank.. Letcombe lost 0-8 at Ciren yesterday while Cricklade put 12 past Clanfield....

Finally Shortwood are hosting an Ann Summers Party at Meadowbank hosted by Lizzie Benneyworth and her fabulous apron. This is on the 25th October at 7.00 pm and positively no MEN ARE ALLOWED... And no John Cant you cannot sneak in dressed as a woman!

Here are the team stats....
