Jim's Saturday Round Up

Featuring Des's Ressies...

With the firsts having a day off due to their lack of FA Cup Action and James Coates getting justifyable stick for saying on Facebook for saying how much he dislikes not having football on a Saturday (!) I went to watch the Ressies at Cheltenham Saras.

Jody Bevan took the opportunity to get a work out and added his weight and experience to the forward line (ha ha! ed.) and thoroughly enjoyed himself with two well taken goals and an assist.

Now on paper this could have been have been more difficult than it turned out as Sarries had won 7-0 at Clanfield last week. This result was put in a bit of perspective however as Gloucester City Dev beat them 14-2 yesterday and as a result went top of the table on goal difference - although Wood have a game in hand.

I've said it before and I have no hesitation in saying it again! The Reserves are a talented bunch and everywhere you look they exude quality. Des has them playing football the right way, encourages them to play the ball on the floor and not miss team mates out! The Result is a fast flowing entertaining brand of football and I urge you to go and support them as much as possible.

They could have won by a very large street yesterday and the fact that they didn't was down to wasteful finishing and a couple of super stops by the home keeper. Fair play to Saras though - they never gave up and took their goal well.

Wood's other goals were scored by the brothers Thwaite...

Right moving on to this week...

The barmy army will be in attendence at Brimscombe on Tuesday as they take on Kidlington in the floodlit cup. I take Brimscombe to win this one. Good side Brimmo and Kidlington are struggling. Wednesday could easily be Shrivenham v Wootton Bassett again in the floodlit...

Next Saturday the firsts travel to Mangotsfield in the FA Trophy. Mangotsfield are in our division and have only taken 1 point from their 4 games.
The Reserves are at home to Highworth who like us are unbeaten. They have 6 points from their two games and are 3rd in the table...

I have posted the latest Curse of Facebook piccy...
This time it is Ross Langworthy who has fallen victim to my spies...
When will they ever learn....
