A club record, defeat at Poole and Bevans Banker...

We start with the good news as the Reserves overpowered Letcombe Reserves 11-0 in the Hellenic League Division 2 West at Meadowbank on Saturday...

Squish believes this may be a club record but if you know different please let me know!

The score could easily have been doubled as Wood also hit the post 3 times in the first half and the bar in the second, also missed several one on one chances and the Letcombe keeper performed heroics.

The score was 4-0 at half time.

For the record Ed Parsloe and Craig Mills both scored hat tricks and the other goals came from Matt Bennett, Joe Rymell, Ryan Meredith, Adrian Ceirza and Chris Underwood!

The Ressies are at home to Cricklade on Tuesday and I think the kick off time is 7.30 but if it is 7.45 you'll have more time for a burger! Please get along to support them - they are well worth watching! Dave Cook was away this weekend so I am missing a report but my thanks go to the Squishman for the above details. The Ressies stay in 3rd after yesterdays little win...

Meanwhile the Barmy Army (together with an assortment of even barmier fans!) made the looonng journey to Poole and thanks to Phil for driving us even tho he looked and sounded like crap and to Paul B for his usual efficiency in googling the fish and chip shops near to the ground. As an aside Paul has been researching his family tree and has found a long gone relative who delighted in the name of Monkey Benneyworth.. the mind boggles.. I dread what he will find when he starts on the Cunneens... anyway I digress...

We knew Poole were top, attracted decent crowds (325 yesterday), and that it would be tough to get a result there and to be fair 0-3 was not at all harsh. In our away games this season we have faced Merthyr, Tiverton and Poole all who are up there and Sholing ( and the least said about that the better!) so we have not had it easy! The facts are though that we are unbeaten at home and have yet to get a point away and we almost seem to be two different sides...
Evo could not fault the work rate and committment yesterday and that is fair enough but we did not create much and there was a certain inevitability about the result once the first goal went in.

Is that harsh?

I put my opinions up here to be shot at and am quite happy to put up any alternative viewpoints...

Anyway the report and Brians pictures are up...

Talking about being there to be shot at.. the latest foray into Bevan's banker came around as he went for a win by Yate at Winchester... It went down but Jody claims he is getting closer...as it took an own goal in injury time to defeat Yate...So that would have been a draw then JB! More next week and from the general comments I have been getting most people look forward to finding out what the Wood Tipster has in store..
Now I know of one person who is going the exact opposite to JB's predictions and places his bets accordingly so keep it up JB.
And to the one person who subscribes to my textline but asks me to 'look at myself mate' I simply answer 'dilligaf'!(If you don't know ask me...)

Now on top of the Ressies on Tuesday the firsts travel to Swindon Supermarine on Wednesday for a league cup tie before welcoming Mangotsfeld in the league next Saturday. This will be of course the third time we have played them already this season having fought out two 0-0 draws in the FA Trophy this season (winning on pens...)

More in midweek folks...
