John Cant, a new nick name, man love, the dog and duck, losing respectfully and more....
Good day gentle readers!
Now we have all recovered from our exhuberant celebrations it is time for a moment of quite reflection! Yeh Right....
We start with a piece I have just put up on the website and facebook ha ha concerning Mr Cant! Last time he was modelling off colour undies this time - well judge for yourselves...
My spies are everywhere but people never learn!
For those of you not there - and why weren't you is the first question the video highlights of the goals are on youtube! Go to...

Viewers will see a certain Timmy Haddock involving in a spot of man love with my good friend Phil Powell after scoring the winner. We are all eternally grateful that there was a wall between them or goodness only knows what might have happened - all in front of Sheila as well - outragious behaviour. Blondie is using that footage in her video of the re-release of French Kissing in the USA!
We had already been treated to a good laugh at the tannoy announcer greeting our equaliser as coming from LUCK Gullick and that was also on the distributed team sheet as well. And a new nickname rears its head... Luck G..
As for the game the neutrals declared we thoroughly deserved it. we wanted it more on the day and so on.. Haddys pass to Jake, Jake's cross and Luck's header were excellent and Coatesy described his cross as his best ever. No argument from me there James.
Evo gave joint man of the match to Alton for the first half when we defended superbly against the wind and Luck for the second half. Again no argument from me Evo. He was full of praise for the whole squad tho and rightly so and for me that win stacks up against the great cup wins over Reading Town, Tivvy and Gloucester City! It was that good!
In the second half the barmy army were joined by an Exeter living, Tivvy supporting chap wearing a Wycombe Wanderers hat. No I haven't a clue either, but he joined us and got as carried away as the rest of us and got equally smothered in the Wood celebrations of the Wood winner.
Our celebrations at the end, on top of Big Phils and his love child were exhuberant, loud and long
Unfortuantly some of the Weymouth supporters came out with little credit. Tom King received a lot of comments that went beyond banter and they got on their own teams back. By half 9 last night there were 7 pages on their independent forum complaining bitterly at their defeat. Most of the comments were directed at the Terras manager and player and a few (!) congratulated us. A lot of sour grapes were there. Now I can understand their disappointment at losing but there were comments calling us a Dog and Duck side, scared to death, and creating nothing...
Really!
I'm also disappointed that some of their players allegedly refused to shake hands after the game.
The only think I would say to this is that it is valuable to lose graciously as it is to win graciously. There was nothing contraversial in our victory, no one to blame, it happens! Say well played and move on!
The report is up and Brian's superb pictures - enjoy!
In the dash for the stats JP still leads with 45 points, Kinger has 31 and Coatsey 30!
Let us not forget that the Ressies were involved in cup action as well. They travelled to Finchamstead to play their Reserves in a Reserve League Cup tie and came back with a 3-1 win. Joe Rymell scored another brace and Liam Meredith scored the other..
When the draw is made for the next round I will post it...
The draw for the FA Trophy is tomorrow lunchtime and I will again put it up, tweet it and text it as soon as I know.. My other club Enfield Town Fc won at Concord Rangers yesterday and I would love them at home!
So what have we got coming up in the next 7 days - a veritable feast of Shortwood football...
The firsts travel to Hungerford on Monday for a league game, The Reserves are at home to our very good friends Brimscombe in a county cup tie on Tuesday ( 7.30 for this one!) and then the firsts are away to North Leigh on Saturday again in the league!
I shall expect a full attendence...
PS Bevan's banker - quack quack woof!
