a point, a plea and other news...

We start this morning with a request from dessie! Apparently he has lost all his phone numbers so can all the players and everyone else from the club please text him their numbers and there names and please pass this on to anyone you know that Dessie ought to have.
Ta muchly!

Right then gentle readers!
Well the first game has come and gone and can I thank everybody who worked so hard to make it such a great day off the pitch. I know Ken Turner (Chairman of the league) and all the folk from Wimborne were really impressed with the set up! Well done!
Secondly a big thank you to all the players! We all knew that it was a big step up but you kept going, showed great spirit and got us the point we deserved at the end of the day. I think we all learnt yesterday that any mistakes we make are going to be harshly dealt with - and they were yesterday! Chances are going to be fewer as well and we have to be clinical but to be fair their keeper made a couple of great saves to deny Jake and Ross.
Apart from the goals Pritch, Smash and Ralph were outstanding and I would also like to say a word for Jamie and Liam who alongside mom Jake ran their socks off in that heat. No, I'm not saying noone else did - it was a real team effort - but I think they deserve a mention and it is my blog so there....

Smash has received some stick for his goal celebration and rightly so! A half hearted Shearer is not what we expect from Captain Scarlett and it needs work matey!

My mood changed from bugger it when they scored in the 89th to deep joy in the 90th when Singher scored and it was good to see the reaction of both sets of fans at the final whistle.

I think a draw was about right on the day and we will learn!

One thing different this year is that we will now get regular reports in the non league paper which shows our new place in the world of non league footie.

The report is up and the first stats for the Pitchero award are there as well...

I have found some old shots of Pritch, Luke and Ross which I have put on theeir profiles but as soon as Bryan returns from his hols we will arrange to have new team photos and the newbies pen pic photos taken...

As I said yesterday was a cracking day and it would be nice to think that every day will be as good (with a slighly better result...)!
We know that it aint gonna happen tho and there will be good days, bad days and some in between...

The big think is tho that we have arrived and we will enjoy it!

So what have we got coming up...

On Monday the Ressies are training at Stonehouse - 7.00 pm - please see the above from Dessie!!
Tuesday the firsts travel to Merthyr for the first away game - 7.45
The firsts are at Highworth in the FA Cup next SUNDAY kick off 3.00 and the Reserves have their first Hellenic league game at the bank on Saturday when they welcome Gloucester City Dev! Please make the effort to come along and cheer them on in their first game against a very good side!

I will be continuing to put up the team stats in the same format as last season but obviously not until we have a few games under our belt!

Finally - a big well done to our friends from Brimscombe who have started with 3 wins out of 3 in the league. 6-1, 6-0 and 7-1. Can't ask for more and I for one would love to see them get promoted to the Hellenic Prem this year. Well done Phil and the boys...

See you at Merthyr....
