After a sluggish first half Shrews turn it around in second only to be beaten by the clock

After a minibus trip down to Pershore the 1st XV found themselves prepared and ready to go at 1430 but no sign of the referee. At the 1505 the referee managed to get the game going and Pershore started the only thing missing was the Shrewsbury team.

After a wet first ten minutes and an injury to the ref Shrewsbury found themselves 10-0 down and really struggling to get going.

It was all one way traffic in the first half with Shrewsbury defending their line and rarely breaking out of their half.

A stern half time talk from Paul Bolland and some tactical changes saw Dan Harrison come on for James Worthington, Harvey Masson move from full back to fly half to replace James Tindal with Adam Faulkner coming onto the wing.

As if a switch had been flicked Shrewsbury sprung into life lead by Dan Harrison with some great carries and all of a sudden Pershore found themselves having to defend and it was only a matter of time before they were standing under their posts after Tom Dickson showed great strength and balanced running to score. Harvey Mason missed the extras.

Not Long after a kick tap was taken by skipper Simon Evitts who passed to the ever present Dan Harrison who barged over from close range. Harvey again failing to convert the points.

With their tails really up and Perhore having to result to some dirty play tempers flared but Shrewsbury stayed with it and managed to get a penalty try awarded after Rich Pearce was taken off the ball when through to score. This one Harvey did manage to score to take the blues 15-17 ahead with eighteen minutes to play.

From the restart Shrewsbury needed a solid start and to put the pressure back on Pershore but the ball was coughed up and Pershore managed to get some ball and after a series of scrums got a try. They followed this up not long after with a converted try which took them 27-17 in the lead with what the ref said was eight minutes to play.

Shrewsbury were not done yet and pushed into the Pershore half to be granted a penalty within range and Evitts threw the ball to Harvey to knock over the points which he did and the score was 27-20 with what had been told three minutes to play but when Pershore came to take the restart the ref shouted last play and when Shrewsbury gave the ball away the Pershore scrum half was happy to blast it into touch and that was time.
