After a few minutes Shrewsbury found themselves 3-0 up thanks to a penalty by Tim Andrews but if Shrewsbury thought the rest of the afternoon was going to be scoring freely then they were mistaken.
Cleobury rallied and put Shrewsbury on the back foot and caused a string of problems for the home side that put them well out of their stride and off the game plan. Before long they were 3-13 up and looking to be further ahead before the break.
Skipper Simon Evitts had to watch from the side line after twenty five minutes due to injuring his back making a tackle on one of the Cleobury second rows. His frustration was increased when he watched the side play in the way that did not reflect the improvements the side has made over the last month.
A try in the end of the first half from Will Jones had closed the gap on Cleobury to 8-13 going into the break.
After a stern chat from coach Paul Bolland Shrewsbury knew they had to do better if they were to take the points from this game.
Cleobury stuck with it but Shrewsbury’s fitness and skills finally started to come into play and a brace of tries from number 8 James Plant and a try a piece from Luke Mill, Robert Sanky and Matt Beilby saw Shrewsbury pull away and with two conversions added by Tim Andrews and Richard Pearce the final score was 32-13 and Shrewsbury took a much needed 5 points from the fixture.
