Handsworth prove too strong for weakened Shrewsbury 1st XV

With a number of players unavailable, Shrewsbury went into the first league fixture knowing that an away trip to Handsworth would prove a very challenging encounter.

They were not disappointed, with Handsworth proving a very determined physical outfit.

In phases Shrewbury played some excellent rugby scoring 3 tries, unfortunately it was not enough to register a victory, finally succumbing to a 32-17 defeat.

Handsworth were very impressive and on this showing must be contenders to top the table at the end of the season.
