Shrewsbury will seek to make amends for their last visit to West Bromwich Dartmouth when they go in search of a third consecutive victory in the Birmingham League’s premier division on Saturday.

Skipper Ben Stebbings has been pleased with how his side has performed in beating both Kidderminster and then a strong Wolverhampton team in their last two matches.

He’s now looking for more of the same against West Bromwich, a team which knocked them out of the Graham Williamson Trophy last month on a day Shrewsbury were bowled out for just 67.

Stebbings said: "We’ve got a tough game away against West Brom. They gave us a good smashing in the Graham Williamson Trophy, so we owe them a proper performance there, and then we’ve got Brockhampton away.

“These first five games, it would be nice to come away with four wins.”

Shrewsbury will have to make at least three changes to the side which impressed in beating Wolverhampton by six wickets at London Road last weekend as batsman Rob Foster, wicketkeeper Matt Swift and leg-spinner James Hulton-Harrap are all unavailable.

But Stebbings is hopeful Shrewsbury’s strength in depth will again serve them well given they were without the likes of Henry Blofield and George Panayi - who are both set to return this weekend - plus Dillon Pennington and Worcestershire star Ed Barnard last Saturday but still managed to deliver an impressive performance.

The long-serving Ed Foster led the way with an excellent, unbeaten century while promising Australian batsman Tim Ward struck a second successive half century to further underline his exciting potential.

Stebbings stressed: “He’s doing very well. He trains so hard in the week, he works and he wants to be successful, so he’s got the right attitude.

“He gets on very well with all of the lads and is a very nice guy.”
Shrewsbury are also in action tomorrow night (Friday, 6.15pm) when they face Shifnal at London Road in the second round of the ECB National Club T20.

The two sides had been scheduled to meet in the ECB National Club Championship last weekend but Shifnal pulled out of the tie. Shrewsbury will now travel to Stone in the third round.
