The Mighty Sidcup Under 7's - Mini Tag Rugby
Welcome to Sidcup RFC Unders 7's, where we find out just how much fun running around with a rugby ball can be and giving the kids an opportunity to learn about the great game itself. Our aim is to put them onto the path of becoming a team player whilst having fun and also to instill a sense of club and community spirit.
U7's squad players must be 6 years old at the beginning of the season (1st September) - same as School Year 2.
Players (both boys & girls) of any ability who want to participate in some form of competitive game are welcome to come along and join in.
Play is regulated by RFU as part of the rugby continuum, designed to promote "fair play within the game".
The game is played on a relatively small pitch with cloth strips (tags) that are attached to a belt with velcro. Tackling is replaced by tagging. Tagging is the removal of one of a players tags. The game is simplified to consist only of running and passing.
Not allowed: tackling (just tagging), rucks, mauls, handing the ball to a team-mate, ripping, going to ground, lineouts, scrums, kicking, hand-offs.
Whether training or playing matches the safety and welfare of players along with their development and enjoyment in taking part is the paramount objective, winning is a bonus.

- Pitch maximum size 60x30m.
- Ball: Size 3.
- 10 min each way.
- 5 to 7 a side.
- 5 points for a try. No conversions
