The RFL have recently introduced a new initiative 'Embed the Pathway, . More...

The aim is for ETP to become the National RL Curriculum for 12-14 year olds thus developing a greater pool of potential England players in the future.

ETP can be delivered in a number of ways

(1) Pro clubs who deliver ETP to the community game - England Rugby League Player Development Partner

(2) Community Clubs who engage in ETP and deliver it to their players and support their coaches - England Rugby League Player Development Club

(3) Schools who deliver ETP as part of curriculum or extra curricular offer - Player Development School

The ETP programme has been well received throughout the game and as a club we are fully supportive of the principles. We will be taking steps to ensure we receive the necessary accreditation to become a Player Development Club as soon as practical.

In becoming a PDC we will be able to ensure our players receive appropriate ETP training in a manner which reflects the playing demands and time constraints already placed upon them. Becoming a PDC will mean we can deliver the ETP 'in house' benefitting all our players.

All ETP deliverers i.e. pro or community clubs or schools should be delivering the programme to all participants i.e. there should be no element of selection or leaving some boys out. ETP is not intended to be and should not be viewed as part of the scholarship selection process. Whether a player attends should have no bearing on whether a scholarship is ultimately awarded.

There will inevitably be numerous ETP training events and camps run by professional clubs in the area. Whether our players need to attend any or all is open to debate given we will be delivering the same programme. In any event I hope all players think carefully about attending any external sessions which conflict with our own heavy training and playing schedules and if there is any conflict be guided by their respective team coaches.

Any questions please feel free to ask,
