Our Under 14's fly the flag for Siddal's junior sides in this Saturday's Yorkshire Cup Final against Stanningley at Post Office Road, Featherstone, 11.30 am kick off.
Coaches Ben Jackson and Paul Hirst have overseen the development of this crop of fine players whose team ethic has overcome opponents sprinkled with superstars on the way to the final. The team won the Yorkshire Cup, Yorkshire Challenge Cup and the League in 2017 as Under 13's. Ben and Paul have kept their feet on the ground and have drilled home that hard work and togetherness are the keys to success in a team sport.
The road to this year's final has been on the following path
Round 1 Hull Victoria (away) 48-0
Round 2 Normanton (home) 68-0
Q Final West Hull (away) 22-18
S Final Batley Boys (away) 36-12
A large following cheered the lads on at Batley, in a game that looked very tricky when the draw was made. The visitors put in a solid performance to out perform their hosts in a disciplined display. Ben and Paul are hoping that there will again be plenty of Siddal support at Featherstone on Saturday. There is a supporters bus going to the game, with a meeting time of 9.00 am on Saturday at the club. At the time of writing, there is a handful of seats remaining. If you'd like a seat on the bus, please call Ben Jackson on 07950 383721. Seats are £5.
For supporters travelling by car, the address is Post Office Road, Featherstone WF7 5EN.
Good luck from all at Siddal.
