SIDMOUTH qualified for the Devon Twenty 20 Finals Day event with a rousing victory over Tavistock featuring Nick Gingell blasting 50 off 15 balls at opener.
He went on to 69 off 26 balls in a 97-run opening stand with Matt Cooke, ended in the seventh over when a difficult skier was confidently held by Steve Cleave off John Newton.
At 119 Newton got a second wicket when he bowled Cooke for 34, but that was as good as it got for Tavistock with Liam Lewis and Anthony Griffiths both passing the 50 mark in a total of 238-2.
The visitors replied with 104-9, not helping themselves by contriving three run-outs. Miles Dalton took 3-10 in his four overs and Henry Gater 2-6 in two. Cooke was the other wicket taker, providing Robbie Powell with one of three stumpings.
