We caught up with one of the league’s most in-form goalkeepers ahead of arguably Sileby’s biggest game of the season to date.

Having stepped in to the team a few months into the season, Felton has adapted to a slightly altered back 4 to the one he finished with last season.

How do you think the squad has changed this year compared with last?

“Well it has the tag of being Champions now! We've lost a few faces but not really any ability and probably have more strength in depth.

The majority of the 11 that played last season are still here. Stab has done a good job of replacing Coppard and, to Boult’s relief, Carro's hairline. Dougie was always going to be a huge miss as he scored important goals from right back but Amac has made that shirt his own recently.”

In their last outing Sileby overcame perennial title rivals Melton, with Felton keeping another impressive clean sheet. With that victory they put the destination of the title back in their own hands but Birstall refuse to quit, putting together an impressive run themselves.

Town have 9 games remaining with the next at Birstall. Just how big a bearing will that game have on the rest of the season?

“Birstall have to be favourites to win the league with the run in they have got and a similar number of games remaining. You'd expect them to win the majority against lower league opposition so we will need 9 wins and that includes Saturday.”

It’s been a bit of a juggling act, with such a large squad, to keep happy so we thought up a possible solution.

Manager Steve Hendey says that he needs to lose one squad member and improve team spirit. He charges you with solving this problem by playing the age old classic, ‘shag, marry, kill.’ Who do you go for?

“Someone once said marriage is about personality and not looks. Although his arse is a bit bigger than I'm used to, Bruce definitely has the best personality and I'd only have to tap it on his birthday and at Christmas.

I would probably shag Tins, he takes the best care of his appearance, and if he was disappointed in his performance he'd leave and not hang around afterwards.

Who would I kill? Oh easy, Macca...”

Sileby haven’t had it all their own way this season and have really had to dig in at times, meaning extra pressure on their shot stopper. Felton hasn’t disappointed, putting together a run that has seen the team cement their place at the top of the tree.

What’s been your best game of the season so far?

“Personally, I feel like I'm playing the best football of my life and it's not often you concede only 1 in 7. Ashby away, was probably my best game, we had to win and had 7 out and the clean sheet was vital to the last minute win. Although Melton away, was my best all round game and the best team performance.”

Sileby haven’t mounted the kind of challenge they perhaps should have in the cup competitions this year. Although harshly treated in the Jelson Holmes Senior Cup, being removed from the competition for failing to fulfil their fixture with AFC Hinckley, they exited the Beacon Bitter with a whimper at Earl Shilton. One cup does still present a chance to add to the cabinet though, with Town set to face local rivals Barrow in a repeat of the 2014 final.

Town will play Barrow in the charity cup soon, do you fancy your team’s chances against higher league opposition?

“In classic football manager jargon, I expect a win. This squad would be a lot higher in that league than Barrow currently are.“

Sileby’s defensive strength is down to more than just the qualities of their keeper. With Dan Moore and Jon Coppard moving on last year, a host of new faces have stepped up to plug the gaps. Dan Stabik has rediscovered his best form after a long layoff with injury, Eddy Price has been flawless in his move to defence, whilst Aaron Shaw has enjoyed a great debut season.

Everyone knows Dan Jelley is the fastest player at the club, who would you say is the best tackler?

“Tins, the best defensive forward in the league! Leo probably makes the most interceptions and tackles in a game. The best is tough, the worst I've ever seen is Jake Rimington, only person I've seen lose a 99:1. “

But every good defence needs a good stopper behind them.

Which goalkeeper, past or present, do you most liken yourself to and why?

“I was always trying to be Schmeichel growing up as a kid. De Gea is the best keeper in the world currently and uses similar futsal based techniques in one on one situations so he'd be the one I'd use as a model to improve.

I'll never be as good as Matt Baker was though!”

You can see Sileby away to Birstall this Saturday in what promises to be a great game for fans and neutrals alike. Kick off is 3pm.
