AIRBUS TOO REVVED UP FOR SKEM
Neil Leatherbarrow
An Airbus team fresh off the plane from a Europa League game in Norway, displayed a distinct fitness advantage over a Skelmersdale side playing their first pre-season game at Stormy Corner, the Welshman pocketing a straight forward success.
Airbus took the lead via s stooping header from Andy Jones in the 4th minute.
Two goals in two minutes probably ended Skelmersdale’s hope in 29 & 31 minutes. Jordan Barrow netting from close range before a thunderous free-kick from Ellis Healing went into the goal via the crossbar.
Skelmersdale did better after the break, though still went 4-0 down on 63 minutes when Jordan Johnson netted the first of a brace.
Skelmersdale kept at Airbus and their second-half show deserved something of a reward, they got it in the 84th minute, when Connor McCarthy held the ball up and played Danny Coid in on goal, the former Blackpool player drilling the ball home. Johnson got his second with the full-time whistle poised to be blown.
