Skelmersdale United Preview

Skelmersdale United Preview
Friday 21 November

Ilkeston FC travel to face table toppers Skelmersdale United tomorrow afternoon in what is probably one of the most important games of the season so far.

Ilkeston go into this crucial game after brushing aside Whitby Town last Saturday with another talented youngster Ashley Hunter, grabbing the limelight with two goals.

On Tuesday the Robins travelled to local rivals Matlock Town in the Doodson Cup. Ilkeston controlled most of the match with their passing style of play, which kept Matlock chasing the ball for long periods of the match, Michael Williams scoring the only goal in a fine away victory.

Skelmersdale who have been sitting at the top of the table for the last month or so, have hit a patch of indifferent form recently only winning twice in their last six matches. Maybe this could be the ideal time for us to visit the league leaders?

Robins’ manager, Kevin Wilson had this to say earlier in the day “We are looking forward to visiting the league leaders tomorrow. They’ve had a very good start to the season, setting the early pace, but myself and Chets (Steve Chettle) are confident that the lads can go and get a result from the match.”

“We know that it’s going to be a tough test for everyone involved tomorrow but if things on and off the pitch are done properly and professionally then we will be confident when 3 o’clock arrives.”

The Robins have no fresh injury or suspension concerns going into tomorrows’ game.

Our next fixture is the re-arranged game at home to Matlock Town on Saturday, November 29 here at The New Manor Ground, Kick off 3:00pm.
