After the fist team captured the Liverpool County FA Senior Cup, the Skelmersdale United Youth team didn’t just copy them by winning the Liverpool County FA Youth Cup, they actually went one better by winning the North-West Youth Alliance under 18’s Open Cup, and just to show the promise the Junior section of the club has the under 17’s got in on the act by lifting the South Lancs Counties under 17’s league title.
The most prestigious trophy is the Liverpool County FA one and to lift this manager Paul Nicholson’s team overcame Marine 4-2 at the Liverpool County FA’s Walton Hall ground.
The under 18’s won also won the North West Youth Alliance Open Cup by defeating Stockport Georgians 5-1 in the final, at Ashton Athletic’s Brocstedes Park, a competition that was also entered by clubs of the like of Altrincham, Barrow and Morecambe.
Just to show the potential for a repeat next season when a number of the under 18’s are too old, Skelmersdale under 17’s won the South Lancs under 17’s league managed by Dominic Finnegan, they can also boats the league’s top goalscorer Callum White who netted 19 times.
