Skem Utd JFC took the kick off to start what was our 3rd derby match. Within a minute we had got our first goal of the game. A brilliant tackle from William saw the ball fall into the path of Ethan. He controlled the ball on the edge of the box and fired into the bottom left of the net, GOAL

Another shot from Ethan a few minutes later saw the ball fly just wide of the left post.

In the 6th minute Skem Utd Youth got their goal from a well taken free kick. GOAL

Skem Utd Youth were always trying to play the ball around the back instead of route one and were doing a very good job of it. Credit to my lads for noticing this and trying to close them down straight away. Including pushing forward whenever Skem Utd Youth were taking goal kicks. Both teams were looking very dangerous.

In the 11th minute the opposition took a goal kick which Ryan got his head to it and headed forward to Elliot. Elliot ran the ball into the box and went round the keeper and walked the ball over the line for our 2nd. GOAL

Half time 1-2

Half time saw both William and Morgan substituted. Both were a credit to themselves, Morgan defended brilliantly and William battled none stop. Well done you two

The 2nd half saw the back 3 (Zac, Ethan, Owen) trying to mix it up. Big kicks when Zac had it in his hands, and also trying to play from the back at times when we had goal kicks. This did sometimes cause us to put ourselves under pressure, but it was good to see the lads trying.

Some good attacks were created from our team today with a few standing out. One saw Ryan dribble up the right hand side and avoid a sliding tackle from a midfielder. He carried on up the wing a few more yards and swung a lovely ball into the path of Elliot, who just shot wide. Ryan and Joe in particular were passing the ball well and creating opportunities for their team mates.

With the game at 1:2 Zac made a very impressive save from Skem Utd Youths striker, Josh. As we all know Josh is one of the best strikers around. He pressured one of our defenders and forced an error. He ran to goal and had a one on one with our keeper. He struck the ball nicely, but Zac was his usual strong self. He got both hands to the ball and pushed it over the bar. The lad must have wrists of steel.

30th min. Our best move of the game (and the best move I’ve ever seen from my team) saw Ethan get the ball on the left hand side. He took his time brilliantly and picked out Elliot near the centre spot with an amazing pass. Elliot controlled the ball and passed to Ryan, who with his first touch played the ball over the opposing players heads with his right instep straight to Bailey. Bailey held off the last defender and cooly finished what was a superb move. GOAL

Full time 1:3

A good and entertaining game from both teams as usual.

MOTM: Ethan, just pipping Zac. Ethan was creative both in midfield and in defence.
