After a fantastic day at Keighley RUFC for the local girls development day, Skipton were able ot catch up with the games bigest stars!

The girls were given the chance to learn from some of the best coaches in the North with a development day designed to help improve skills, showcase elite opportunities, and even a workshop on healthy living in connection with playing the game.

The girls really enjoyed themselves and importantly took a lot away from the day. Many spectators and coaches commented on how great it was to not only see so many of the girls in red, but how well the whole team have developed since their first game back in October.

Coach Vicki commented "Its great to have days like these, I played when I was younger and these were not all that common then, so its really promising for the game that the girls get these opportunities."

After speaking with Tamara Taylor, who now has over 70 international caps and plays for Darlington Mowden Park ladies in the Womens Premiership, she was very pleased to hear about the growth of the game at Skipton and commended the work thats been going on.

"Its so important that our game is accessible as its not traditionally seen as a girls first choice of sport. To see so many of them too just shows how engaging the sport can be if we get it right in the community. There are some great individual athletes in the squad - most of who have been asking some great questions about what they want to know about the game too."

Tamara also wished the girls the best of luck in the future, and was very enthusiastic about the girls future given their development in such a short period of time.

The girls then had the opportunity to meet and chat with both Tamara and Fiona Davidson who also plays for England.

If you are interested in being involved in girls rugby, the club have both an U13s and U15s team and welcome any girls to come and join us! For more info contact Ash Greaves on 07590016875.
